Our client was a specialist development company in Edinburgh renovating a number of buildings in the New Town area of the city.
These units were fitted out to a high specification and a designer staircase was required to link the levels.
Our model 500 stair was chosen from the range which is a modern staircase with 10mm steel plate stringers. Our client selected oak treads and oak risers to fully enclose the staircase. These were both produced in 50mm and with no nosing to give a slick and modern feel. This detail also meant the treads and risers matched the profile of the zig zag steel stringers.
Frameless glass balustrade was supplied to one side of the staircase which was specially shaped to follow the line and profile of the steel stringers. The glass was laminated so no newel posts were required to support the panels, keeping the staircase light in appearance. The glass was topped with a 50mm diameter Oak handrail.
The Oak was finished with a satin lacquer and the steel stringers powder coated jet black.
