Project of the Month - May 2026 – Glass Staircase in Haywards Heath barn conversionOur client recently purchased a plot just outside Haywards Heath, West Sussex, which included a barn and some outbuildings.The plan was to transform it into a family home. After visiting our showroom, the client fell in love with the model 500 staircase, which ticked all the boxes.It would sit in the living room, leading up to a bridge walkway beside a large window, so allowing light to pass through was essential. The open risers and glass balustrade of the model 500 made it ideal.Matching balustrades were needed along both sides of the bridge, featuring vertical stainless newels, an oak handrail, and 10mm toughened glass panels. The staircase itself had a quarter turn with winding treads and, being free-standing, required the same balustrade on both sides.Oak treads complemented the barn’s oak beams, while full-height glass risers ensured building regulation compliance.The steelwork was powder-coated white to blend seamlessly with the interior walls.#steelandglassstaircase #model500staircase #modernstairs #openstaircases #floatingstairs #stunningstairs #completestairsystems

Project of the Month - April 2026 – Open Oak Staircase in Kingsbridge new build.In the picturesque market town of Kingsbridge, our client was building a new home. Having enjoyed many holidays in the South Hams area of Devon, he was eager to retire there and quickly purchased a plot of land when the opportunity arose.We first received the property plans by email, along with a brief to design an open, light staircase for the main hallway. While he wasn’t fond of anything overly modern, he wanted a statement feature for the new double-height space. As the house was to be oak-framed, using oak for the staircase was a natural choice, complementing the flooring. The selected design was the WF staircase, known for its open risers and floating look. This distinctive style features no stringer on one side, instead using a specially crafted handrail to support the treads.The staircase was supplied in a half-turn configuration with cut white stringers on the outer side. Stainless steel spindles led up to a curved handrail on the inner side, adding an elegant elliptical twist to the flight.The client also requested a second staircase leading to a mezzanine deck elsewhere in the home, built in the same style and materials for a cohesive finish.
