External spiral staircases are among the most popular types of spiral stairs. In today’s fast-paced world, outdoor spaces are highly valued for relaxation and rejuvenation. We provide outdoor spiral stairs suitable for a variety of settings, including access to balconies overlooking the sea, treehouses in forests, fire escapes for apartment buildings, and compact spirals in urban areas leading to small gardens. Spiral staircases are an ideal solution due to their minimal footprint. It is worth noting that the space a spiral staircase occupies (its diameter) remains constant regardless of its height or the number of floors it ascends.

In this North London project, the client owned the entire building and required access to a balcony area above their garden. This project was part of a broader refurbishment overseen by a main contractor. A custom-made black spiral staircase with non-slip perforated treads was designed, rising 3 meters with a diameter of 1600 mm. It featured a specially designed balustrade system with 15 x 15 mm square spindles, 50 x 15 mm newels, and a 50 x 15 mm bar handrail, ensuring a uniform appearance when viewed from the side. The top platform was extended to position the spiral 2 meters away from the building, providing a thoroughfare below.

Additionally, 10 meters of matching landing balustrade were supplied, designed to be embedded within the coping stones installed later.

All steelwork was galvanised and powder-coated black.
