The Brief
This project involved supplying four straight-flight Model 500 staircases for a new-build residential development on the Edinburgh coast. Each semi-detached home required two staircases that complemented the open-plan interiors and delivered a modern, light, and airy feel.
The brief was to provide a clean, contemporary staircase design that maximised space and natural light, while fitting seamlessly into the layouts of the semi-detached homes and creating a strong architectural feature within each property.
The Solution
We designed and installed four bespoke straight-flight Model 500 staircases, with two per semi-detached home, using a steel spine for structural integrity and open timber treads to maintain a sense of space.
Frameless glass balustrades were installed along each stair flight, enhancing the flow of light through the interiors and creating a minimalist, modern look. The combination of powder-coated steel, oak treads, and clear glass provided a durable yet visually striking design, perfectly suited to the clean, contemporary aesthetic of the development.
The staircases were carefully engineered to ensure consistency across all homes, while fitting precisely within the layouts, creating an elegant and functional solution for each property.
