January 2023 – Modern Staircase Shepperton

In the leafy suburbs of London lies the village of Shepperton.  Although only 24 miles from central London, Shepperton maintains much of its village charm with a high street packed full of independent shops and restaurants.

The River Thames snakes its way through the area making it popular with boat enthusiasts.  And it is on the banks of the Thames where our client was involved in a significant refurbishment of their property.  The house was being enlarged and improved throughout and involved adding a second floor adding to the living space

Of course a new ‘statement’ staircase was required to access this new level and our client opted for our modern model 500 system.

The opening in the floor was square so a half turn was designed to fit.  100mm thick solid oak treads were selected along with the flat top and flat bottom steel stringer.  Frameless glass panels were chosen to allow the passage of light and this balustrade was continued around the opening upstairs.  The glass panels were topped with a brushed stainless steel handrail.
