After purchasing a country property in Chesham, our client set out to refurbish the entire house.
Part of the renovation included replacing a worn-out spiral staircase with a more stylish design. Inspired by one of our previous projects featured on our website, they wanted to recreate the solid wall balustrade effect.
We supplied a steel spiral staircase with vertical steel posts and a steel handrail to form the balustrade.
The on-site carpenter then lined the balustrade with ply, battened the underside, and plastered it smooth. Along with the surrounding stairwell, the plaster was finished in a special lime paint, creating a distinctive mottled look.
We also provided oak treads and risers to complete the staircase.
The result was spectacular, and the client proudly shared photos soon after the work was finished.
