Project of the Month – December 2022
Shop Spiral Staircase Hook
Our final entry for 2022. I think we can all say that 2022 didn’t really live upto expectations. Lets hope 2023 marks the start of an uptrend!
For our December post we are only 40 minutes from our HQ in Romsey. Our customer was enlarging a commercial farm complex in the outskirts of Hook, Hampshire. There was already an established farm shop and popular educational centre and our client was expanding by building a new building for small specialist retail units. In two of these units there was a need for a spiral staircase.
The requirement was for a functional, no frills, steel spiral staircase for each unit to allow staff access to the upstairs storage area. As the usage was classed as semi commercial each spiral was designed to conform to a category C spiral. This meant the spiral had to have a minimum 800mm clear tread width and a centre column handrail. The spirals supplied had 16 risers each to achieve the 3205mm floor to floor height and a 2000mm outer diameter.
Treads were supplied chequer plate with vertical steel spindles around the perimeter and upstairs to protect the opening. Both staircases were delivered powder coated to RAL 7016 – anthracite grey.
When the pictures were taken, one unit had been taken over by a specialist wine shop and the other was shortly to be occupied by a clothing company.
If you would like a price for any type of spiral staircase – please get in touch and fill our the form below with your requirements.
