Project of the Month – February 2022
Spiral Staircase Loughborough
Our customer was a developer converting a church into a commercial office for their client – a film and media firm.
Our spiral was to sit right in the middle of the reception area next to the downstairs meeting room and would be the first item on view when entering the building. It therefore had to be impressive but not too domineering.
As it was the main route to the mezzanine area, a 2200mm diameter was selected with a large triangular top platform level with the upper floor. The steel treads were made with a small 6mm lip all the way around to allow for the contractor to embed the same carpet tile being used upstairs. As it was a commercial application and no children would be using the stair, horizontal stainless steel bars were selected for the balustrade and these ran parallel with the stainless steel handrail. This kept the spiral light and transparent in appearance. Due to its use and size a centre column handrail was also present, again in stainless steel.
Around 7m matching balustrade matching the spiral was supplied to the edge of the mezzanine floor.
The entire structure apart from the stainless steel elements was factory powder coated 9011 -graphite black to match some of the period elements of the building.
This model is from our custom made spiral staircase range and is an extremally versatile stair. It is supplied is a variety of materials and finishes to virtually any height and diameter and is supplied for commercial and domestic projects. For a price please fill out the contact form below.
