Riser infill Bars

Riser bars are available to minimize the space between steps.

In the UK, regulations mandate that the gap between treads must not exceed 100mm. This safety measure is designed to prevent young children from slipping through.

The riser bars consist of a 20mm steel bar, installed horizontally between the steps to maintain an open riser while reducing the gap.

If desired, these riser bars can be finished in the same powder-coated color as the steelwork.

To include riser bars in your order, simply select ‘YES’ in the riser bar dropdown menu.

Should you be uncertain about the necessity of riser bars, please consult your building control officer.

Riser bars can be installed after the staircase is assembled, but if ordered separately, an additional delivery charge will apply.

Frequently asked Questions

The opening in the upper floor must be at least 50mm greater than the diameter of the spiral staircase to accommodate knuckle gap clearance as you climb. The floor opening can be either circular or square. For instance, a spiral with a diameter of 1500mm would require a minimum opening size of 1550mm in diameter or a 1550 x 1550mm square.

The C20 Spiral is made to order and produced in Italy.  It generally takes 4-6 weeks to received your spiral.

The required specifications will differ based on the application, the size of the opening in the floor above, and the applicable building regulations. Should a building control officer be overseeing your project, it is advisable to confirm the acceptable diameter with them, as they will be the ones approving the work. Typically, areas with higher foot traffic necessitate a larger diameter, whereas less frequented areas can accommodate a smaller one.

In the majority of instances, the spiral is installed in a day by 2 people.  This of course will depend on the competency of the individuals and the height of the stair and the amount of landing balustrade.  Some customers opt to employ a builder or carpenter whist more experienced DIYers tackle it themselves.

The entry and exit points of the spiral are a crucial element to consider.  If you have a look at the above plan drawings you will be able to see where you get on and get off the spiral.  Each model can be assembled clockwise or anticlockwise. If in doubt – please get in touch – 01794 522444.
