Project of the Month – April 2023
Open Staircase Wisbech
In the north eastern corner of Cambridgeshire lies the market town of Wisbech. Known for its fine Georgian architecture, Wisbech has been ranked highest in Cambridgeshire for natural beauty and quality of life.
We were contacted by a customer looking to renovate a number of out-buildings into livable spaces. One they were going to use as a holiday let and the other they were to use themselves. In the unit they to were to use, they were quite specific about the type of staircase they wanted. As the staircase was in the living room area they wanted it open and light in appearance so not to dominate the room.
Our Floating style WF staircase was quickly selected from the range and Oak was specified as the timber. The stair was to run up the wall before turning 90 degrees to meet the upper floor. The WF design meant there was no internal stringer creating a floating effect to the flight. The customer opted to upgrade to have the curved handrail at the turn to create a lovely detail at the corner.
Landing balustrade was supplied around three sides of the opening in timber and toughened glass infill panels
Our client sent these pictures shortly after the building work was complete.
