The Brief
The homeowners in Weybridge were undertaking a full internal refurbishment and wanted to replace an outdated staircase that felt heavy and visually closed-off. The existing stair restricted light flow through the property and didn’t reflect the modern architectural style they were aiming to achieve.
As this was a refurbishment rather than a new build, the new staircase needed to fit precisely within the existing floor openings while minimising structural alterations. The brief was to create a light, contemporary staircase that would open up the space, allow natural light to pass through the home, and act as a key design feature within the renovation.
The Solution
We designed and installed a bespoke Model 500 modern staircase, tailored specifically to the existing structure of the property. The staircase features a central steel spine, precision-engineered to fit the refurbishment constraints while delivering the clean, floating appearance the clients wanted.
Open timber treads were paired with frameless glass balustrades, allowing light to flow freely between floors and creating a strong sense of space within the refurbished interior. Every element was carefully detailed to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding finishes, ensuring the staircase felt like a natural part of the renovated home rather than an add-on.
The result is a striking yet practical modern staircase that transforms the hallway, enhances the sense of openness, and provides a timeless focal point for this Weybridge refurbishment.
