Project of the Month – December 2024
Floating Staircase Harpenden
Following the purchase of a property, our client embarked on a comprehensive renovation to modernise each room into a crisp, open, and clean living space. The front hallway was previously a closed and dark area, featuring an existing closed riser staircase. The client’s plan included the installation of a rooflight above and a bright, open-plan staircase to illuminate the hallway with natural light.
The chosen staircase was our WF floating staircase, a distinctive cantilever-effect design with treads extending from a wall stringer, supported by vertical stainless steel spindles. It is our most open and light-enhancing stair design, capable of transforming any hallway. The client opted for Ash treads and handrails to complement the timber doors, and a white wall stringer to augment the staircase’s floating appearance, merging seamlessly with the white wall.
This staircase featured a quarter-turn design, and the client selected the elegant curved handrail option to add a graceful arc to the turn. A little section of landing balustrade was added upstairs to protect the opening.
The developer doing the refurb work took these pictures after completion and forwarded them soon after.
If you would like a price for such an open and light staircase please fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
