Spiral Staircase Edinburgh – Model 70

This spiral staircase was supplied to a client involved in extending her barn near Edinburgh.

A spiral staircase was required to access a small mezzanine deck which served as a reading gallery overlooking the new kitchen.

Given there were many original oak beams on view, and that the doors and floor were to be oak, the spiral staircase had to match. The Model 70 spiral was specified which combine solid timber treads, centre column, spindles and handrail. The treads themselves cantilever directly from the centre column without requiring any bulky steel tread supports.

On this particular model we continued the handrail and spindles along the balcony upstairs to complete the spiral.

"The model 70 was the perfect spiral staircase for this application. A mix of old and new was required and the timber had to match the existing oak on display"
