This spiral staircase was supplied to a retired couple renovating a barn in rural Shropshire. They wanted something light, modern, and stylish, and our model 76 spiral was the perfect fit. It led to a bedroom upstairs above the open-plan kitchen/diner, with walls on two sides. Glass treads helped preserve the flow of natural light from the downstairs window and the pendant light above the spiral.
As it needed building control approval, riser bars were added to reduce the gaps between the treads. These 10mm stainless steel bars run horizontally between each step—subtle enough to close the gap without blocking light. The clients took these lovely photos after moving in and were delighted with the result.
