Project of the Month – March 2022
Modern Staircase Gloucester
Gloucestershire is the focus of our attention this month, the small village of Churchdown located between Gloucester and Cheltenham.
Our client was constructing a new dwelling the the grounds of an existing property and needed a grand feature staircase for their open plan hallway.
The stair had to be bold and modern whilst not not appearing to dominant in the available space. Out model 500 stair was selected with open risers and frameless glass panels to encourage the passage of light.
The stair was a 1/4 turn configuration with a square platform at the turn. No leg support was required at the turn due to the strength of the steel stringers and the rear was bolted back to the wall. The treads and handrail were in oak which our client has supplied with a white tint and the steel stringers were powder coated black.
The treads were supplied with a special L shaped down-stands to the front to give the impression of a thicker tread whilst overcoming the 100mm gap rule. Matching landing balustrade was supplied around both sides of the open plan level above.
