The Cost of a Spiral Staircase in 2025
Spiral staircases come in a wide variety of sizes, styles and materials. The main drivers of cost are as follows:
Size
It stands to reason that the bigger a spiral staircase is, in terms of height and diameter, the more materials will be required and the greater the cost will be.
Material Type
A wide range of materials can be used to produce a spiral staircase including glass, stainless steel, and wood. Some materials, particularly glass and more exotic wood such as walnut and mahogany can add a great deal of cost to a spiral staircase. Conversely, some cheaper materials such as beech wood can help to keep the cost down.
Complexity of Design
The more time spent designing a spiral staircase, and the more elaborate the engineering required, the more expensive the staircase will be. At the cheaper end will be a simple ‘off the shelf’ kit such as the Phola spiral staircase where as a highly bespoke staircase with glass treads, such as the Model 76, will be several times the cost.
How Much Does a Spiral Staircase Cost?
For an ‘off the shelf’ kit system, you can expect to pay approximately £1.5 – 4k inc. VAT and delivery. This price range covers the majority of kit staircases in the marketplace. In some circumstances, for a particularly tall and well specified kit staircase, the price will exceed £4k, but this is rare.
For a custom made spiral staircase, the price range is much greater than it is for kit systems. For a basic made to measure custom made spiral staircase, expect to pay from £6k ex.VAT inc. delivery. This can then rise very steeply to over £20k ex.VAT inc. delivery for a high specification model. For a spiral staircase that is off a complete one-off design, the price could reach as high as £40k ex.VAT inc. delivery.
